(More customer reviews)Strongly considered buying this over the less expensive F201r filter. However, after researching the quality of my tap water via the local utility (which was available online) and comparing it to the specs of the F601r, I realized that none of the extra stuff that the F601r filters out is actually in my tap water. The one possible exception is lead, but it's a newer home in California which already mandates low lead levels in residential plumbing. If you have an older home, it may be very worthwhile since corrosion in the plumbing can lead to leaching, but otherwise you really have to ask yourself whether it's necessary.
So, 1 star for scare tactics averaged with 5 stars b/c I'm sure it works fine in systems designed for it (like the less expensive F201r) gives us 3 stars overall. I prefer not to have money scared out of my wallet!
